BIBLE COLLECTION
Most of everything I see comes from inspiration from something else I have seen. I see something I love and then I like to make my own version or interpretation of it.
When we moved to San Antonio, I went into my first Restoration Hardware store. I loved all of the “old” mixed with the “new”. Their showrooms are so beautiful. I tend to like A LOT more color in my designs, but I still love their clean, fresh, monochromatic style.
When going through my first Restoration Hardware showroom, I saw three different sized cloches across a loooonnnggg table with books stacked inside of them. The books had all the covers torn off and were all white, but I loved it. I love the idea. I love collections and this was a new take on a classic collection.
You can pretty much put anything under a cloche and it looks preserved, special, and oh so beautiful. My first purchase was the cloche from Restoration Hardware. Then I realized it was just the beginning of the finished product of my vision.
For the next three years, I started collecting little books to make my stack or heart of my new piece I was creating. Most of the little books I found were pocket Bibles. I mostly found them at estate sales.
I started collecting the small books and Bibles when I saw them and little did I know that it would take such a long time to collect enough to fit inside and fill the cloche. From one house to the other, my Bible (and small book) collection always finds a special home where I can see it often. These Bibles, hymnals, and religious books are one of my favorite collections I own. I love to think about the prayers that have been prayed over them. What was going on in our world when they were used? If only they could talk, what stories would they tell?
Keep redeeming!
